Dental Crowns in Alfreton
If a tooth has become worn, cracked, heavily filled or weakened after root canal treatment, a dental crown can restore its strength, shape and appearance. A crown fits over the whole visible portion of the tooth like a protective cap, allowing you to bite and chew comfortably while giving a natural looking result.
At Glendair Dental we take time to explain your options clearly, so you can make an informed choice about your care. Crowns can be made from a range of materials, including tooth coloured ceramic, and are custom made to blend with your smile. We will always talk through the benefits and limitations of each option during your consultation, as individual results vary from patient to patient.
Crowns are often used alongside other treatments. If you are missing a tooth, a dental bridge may be recommended to fill the gap using crowns on the neighbouring teeth for support, while veneers or dental implants may be more suitable for other situations. Our team will help you understand which approach best suits your needs.
We know that visiting the dentist can feel daunting for some patients, so we take a gentle, unhurried approach at every appointment. If cost is a concern, please see our finance options for ways to spread the cost of treatment. To find out more or to arrange a consultation, please get in touch with our friendly team.
What does having a crown fitted involve?
Fitting a crown usually takes two visits. At the first appointment we gently prepare the tooth and take an impression, then fit a temporary crown to protect it while your permanent crown is made. At the second visit, once we are happy with the fit, shape and shade, the permanent crown is bonded securely in place.
We use local anaesthetic where needed so the process is as comfortable as possible, and we are always happy to explain each stage as we go, particularly for patients who feel a little anxious about treatment.
What to expect at your consultation
Your journey begins with a friendly, unhurried consultation where we listen to your concerns and examine the tooth that needs attention. We will explain whether a crown is the right option for you, discuss alternatives where relevant, and answer any questions you may have before you decide how to proceed.
We understand that some patients feel nervous about dental treatment, so we take things at your pace and are always happy to pause and explain anything further. Our aim is for you to leave every visit feeling informed, comfortable and confident in your care.
